Controlling volumetric flow controllers with EasyBus really saves energy

Kolbingen, 11. März 2019 – The SCHAKO EasyBus signalling and switching bus system helps to connect all volumetric flow controllers by SCHAKO to one energy-efficient control system. This really saves money for installation and operation. However, you have to rethink the planning.

The common approach: a ventilation unit with control of constant pressure

This is the most common setup of ventilation systems. A constant static pressure is controlled. The least favourable point measurement is captured by the controller and the ventilation unit is controlled accordingly. Need-based control is only possible to a limited extent, as only the least favourable point is taken into account.

Advantages:          The system pressure is always sufficiently high.

Disadvantages:    The energy consumption is much too high, as the ventilation unit constantly controls the static pre-pressure set. This results in a high pressure loss of the volumetric flow controllers in conjunction with an increased and clearly disturbing noise level.

Better approach: a ventilation unit with need-based control

The difference to a ventilation system with control of constant pressure consists in the control behaviour and the controlled variables. The static pressure at the least favourable point is now no longer the reference unit for the control. The much better reference unit are volumetric flow rate and damper position of the volumetric flow controllers. The data of all volumetric flow controllers are gathered for this purpose. This measurement data is used as a basis for exclusively need-oriented control.

Advantages:        The need-based system pressure saves energy and thus a lot of money. A least favourable point measurement is no longer required.

Necessary components: all VAV components must be controlled using a bus system; e.g. the EasyBus signalling and switching bus by SCHAKO.

The volumetric flow controllers VRAR and VRAQ by SCHAKO can be equipped with very effective control components. Using the SCHAKO EasyBus signalling and switching bus, they can be connected to an energy-efficient system then. The connection of all devices is as easy as the commissioning and therefore really saves money. Every day.

Those who want to save money in the operation of ventilation systems must rethink them now: an energy-efficient ventilation control for the need-based ventilation of rooms only works with controllable ventilation components and an intelligent bus system. SCHAKO supply both.
